The RED One camera is a 4K 12bit uncompressed digital camera made by RED. The One uses the Mysteriumâ„¢ Sensor and the REDCODE codec. The codec comes in a few variations based on resolution and bit depth. The One camera records in a RAW format. The image is stored in a 12bit logarithmic color scale. As well as recording the .R3D file, the camera also outputs 4 Quicktime proxies in 4 different resolutions that can be used for quick preview of the images. The quicktime proxies can be used for preview and will have any in-camera "looks" applied, but they should typically not be used for editing and mastering. They should also not be confused with the Quicktime Wrapper that is created arround the .R3D file when the FCP Log and Transfer feature is used.
